Measurements of Corneal Thickness in Eyes with Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome: Comparative Study of Different Image Processing Protocols

Abstract: Purpose Comparative analysis of central and peripheral corneal thickness in PEX patients using three different imaging systems: Pentacam-Scheimpflug device, time-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) Visante, and swept-source OCT Casia. Materials and Methods 128 eyes of 80 patients with diagnosed PEX were examined and compared with 112 normal, non-PEX eyes of 72 cataract patients. The study parameters included 5 measured zones: central and 4 peripheral (superior, inferior, nasal, and temporal). Results The… Show more

“…Besides, the proposed approach in our study could also realize the quantitative estimation and risk stratification for patients with LUSC and LUAD, promisingly working as an effective and complementary tool to help the clinicians make appropriate treatment decisions. Apart from the current study, development of the quantitative image-based diagnostic models for disease definition has received unprecedented attention these years [2,7,18,25,38,[43][44][45][46][47], not only in the field of cancer diseases, but also in more broad research fields, such as retinal diseases [43,44], diabetes [46], calcaneal fracture [45], and mental disorders [36]. These models have achieved favorable performance in diseases diagnoses and understanding, demonstrating the great power and promising application of these approaches for clinical practice.…”

“…The primary purpose of both devices is undoubtedly the measurement of intraocular pressure (IOP), the changes of which are the first indicator evidentiary of visual impairment, such as glaucoma or others. However, it is now known that IOP values strongly depend on the central corneal thickness (CCT), age, and in the broad sense, biomechanical parameters of the cornea and the entire eyeball [4349]. Both ORA and Corvis ST in their software contain algorithms allowing to determine the so-called corrected IOP value.…”
