Mechanical modeling for magnetorheological elastomer isolators based on constitutive equations and electromagnetic analysis

Abstract: As constitutive models are too complicated and existing mechanical models lack universality, these models are beyond satisfaction for magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) devices. In this article, a novel universal method is proposed to build concise mechanical models. Constitutive model and electromagnetic analysis were applied in this method to ensure universality, while a series of derivations and simplifications were carried out to obtain a concise formulation. To illustrate the proposed modeling method, a c… Show more

“…In Figure 6, the numerical results of this fractional-order nonlinear model and the revised Bouc-Wen model (refered to Appendix A [31] ) are compared with the experimental results. It can be seen that the resulting stress lags slightly behind the input strain, and the loss angle is deduced to be very small.…”

“…Comparing with the previous work (Zhu et al, 2020), the accuracy of predicted results for hysteresis phenomenon is improved obviously in this proposed nonlinear dynamic model, which indicates a good applicability of this nonlinear dynamic model for MREs. Eventually, The predicted results on the stress-strain hysteresis loop are compared with both the experimental results and predicted results of the revised Bouc-Wen model (Wang et al, 2018) to evaluate the efficiency of this proposed nonlinear dynamic model.…”

“…In addition, as a basic issue, the study of the interaction between two magnetic particles still keeps developing [80][81][82]. Moreover, besides the microstructure-based analytical model of MREs, the phenomenological continuous medium-based models were also studied [83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93]. These works focus on theoretically and/or experimentally studying the magneto-viscoelastic models for MREs.…”
