Mechanical properties of timber-concrete connections with steel tube connectors

Abstract: Composite connections are important components of timber-concrete hybrid systems. This work presents a novel shear connector for timber-concrete composite (TCC) connections. To verify the composite action between the timber and concrete in the proposed connection, ten specimens were subjected to push-out tests to examine the slip at the interlayer. The failure mode and maximum load capacity results are analyzed, indicating that the composite connections have good ductility and high load capacity. Four methods … Show more

“…“Modifier”, typically, refers to the addition of compatibilizers. The connection between different kinds of materials in a building needs to consider the nature of the materials [ 70 , 71 ], and so does the complex. The compatibilizers used for WPC are mainly polymer resins with anhydride groups and carboxyl groups, such as maleic anhydride grafted PP, isocyanate, methylene succinic anhydride etc.…”

“…In addition, all CBDs with different nominal shear span ratios (3, 4, and 5) exhibited typical bending failure, and the strain distribution of CBDs under the ultimate state satisfied the plane section assumption. Kim et al [13,54,55]introduced a CBD structure with profiled sheeting and PBL connectors (Fig. 9) and conducted push-out tests and static bending tests to investigate its shear-bearing capacity and flexural capacity under sagging and hogging moments.…”

“…With the need for industrialization and the use of more eco-friendly materials, it was a wood hybrid structure that attracted much attention [73,74]. At present, the main forms of wood hybrid structures include concrete-wood and steel-wood hybrid structures [75]. Tesfamariam et al [76] proposed a novel hybrid structure consisting of a steel moment-resisting frame (SMRF) with CLT infill panels.…”
