Mechanically Flexible Fluid Flow Sensor for Macro-Tubular Architectures

Abstract: Flow sensors are essential for a variety of applications in fluidic industries. This paper proposes a liquid flow sensor using a microfluidic channel for macrotubular architectures. The sensor comprised a firm poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) microfluidic channel bridge on a mechanically flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) platform installed on the inner wall of tubular systems. The flexible platform was compatible with various tubular architectures and adopted curvatures. In addition, the microscale fluidic … Show more

“…[44] On the other hand, flexible sensors also play an important role in fluid monitoring in industrial piping systems. To address the challenge of pipeline damage from invasive methods, Nour et al developed a viscometer platform that can accommodate different pipeline diameters and curvatures, [296] which can measure a viscosity range of 4-334 mPas.…”

“…[7] Additionally, in the chemical industry, viscosity analysis is routinely employed to ensure consistency in the production and transportation of fluid media. [8] Thus, a viscosity sensitive dye capable of monitoring microenvironments could have a significant impact in both biological and chemical applications.…”
