Mechanochemical Synthesis of Silver Chloride Nanoparticles by a Dilution Method in the System NH4Cl-AgNO3-NH4NO3

Abstract: This study presents the results of the synthesis of silver chloride nanoparticles dispersed within ammonium nitrate matrix via displacement mechanochemical reaction NH4Cl + AgNO3 + zNH4NO3 = (z + 1)NH4NO3 + AgCl at z = z1 = 7.22 and z = z2 = 3.64. The intermediate compound, NH4Ag(NO3)2, was identied after mechanochemical processing of studied system. Use of simultaneous thermogravimetry and dierential scanning calorimetry provide a new means for preparing silver chloride nanoparticles in their free form by the… Show more

“…Figure 3 shows the thermograms obtained from the DSC analysis of AgNO 3 , CA and AgNO 3 /CA composite membranes (at 20%(w/w) CA and produced at 200 bar and 45 • C), performed according to the procedure described in Materials and Methods. The DSC results show evidence that the silver salt had a melting peak at about 215 • C, whereas CA had the glass transition temperature at 173 • C, and the melting peak at about 230 • C. These temperature values of the two components are consistent with the literature [38,39], and also characterize the thermogram of the composite membrane. Therefore, DSC analysis confirmed the AgNO 3 encapsulation in the polymeric matrix.…”

“…S1 †), that corresponds to the spontaneous thermal decomposition of the P123 promoted by the highly exothermic decomposition of the NH 4 NO 3 . 56 It is noteworthy that, in the same condition, the decomposition of P123 occluded in SiO 2 occurs at about the same temperature but in a broader temperature range with less intense exothermic peak. 57 Aer ethanol extraction, the bands assigned to the stretching mode of the C-H bond of the P123 molecules (2800-3000 cm À1 ) are not observed anymore (Fig.…”

“…The rst two resonances correspond to PPO moieties, the resonance at 70.3 ppm is assigned to PEO species while the CH 3 belonging to PPO units of the P123 is detected at 18.1 ppm. 55,56 All resonances are narrow, indicating that P123 alkyl chains are mobile. That suggests weak interactions with zirconia surface, which is consistent with the quasi total removal of P123 under Soxhlet ethanol extraction.…”

“…The values of density were taken from Chemical Dictionary (1998). The bulk decomposition temperatures were taken from Broström et al, 2013;Tagawa, 1987;Nakamura et al, 1980;and Tatykaev et al, 2014. The data for ammonium salts are only shown in the Supplement.…”
