“…17 To quantify overall analgesic use, daily acetaminophen consumption was converted to its equivalent of intravenous morphine sulfate and summed with daily opioid consumption. 18,19 Statistical Analysis.-Continuous data are presented as mean (SD) or mean [CI 95], ordered categorical data are presented as median [IQR] and frequency data are presented as n (%). Longitudinal data were analyzed using multilevel regression over time using random intercepts.…”

“…Although Vernonia amygdalina L. (Asteraceae) leaf alone, when screened against CQresistant P. berghei, gave antimalarial activity (62.7%) merely comparable to CQ alone (57.2%), there was a higher chemosuppressive activity (80.7%) with a higher survival rate, when combined with CQ (Iwalokun 2008). Conventional drug-drug combinations have been documented for malaria and pain as well as other disease conditions, such as cancer and tuberculosis (Blomberg et al 2001;Miranda et al 2006;Zeidan et al 2014). Several studies have also shown that combining conventional drugs with medicinal plant preparations could produce beneficial effects (Nwafor et al 2003;Mohd Ridzuan et al 2007).…”
