The increasing amount of waste in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya, is a severe problem that must be resolved immediately. The amount of plastic waste in the city of Surabaya is one of the causes of damage to the environment. So that the plastic waste must be processed so that it can be reduced. Surabaya State University KKN students made this problem the basis for implementing the Socialization and Training of Plastic Waste Processing Types of LDPE (Low-Density Polypropylene) into Paving Blocks. The purpose of this activity is as an effort to reduce the amount of plastic waste and provide alternative new jobs for the community. This activity applies the lecture method, question and answer, simulation and practice. The action begins with the opening and filling out of the pre-test, then continues with filling in the material, making simulations, and the activity ends with closing and filling in the post-test. The pre-test and post-test assessments results showed that the participant's knowledge of the material was still classified as "low" with an average pre-test score of 52.40% and an increase in knowledge of the material as indicated by the post-test average score of 87 .27%. The activity concludes that participants experience an increase in knowledge and understanding of handling plastic waste into paving blocks and have knowledge about tools, materials, and processing methods to be applied in everyday life.

Limbah sampah saat ini menjadi permasalah global, baik di tingkat dunia internasional, nasional dan lokal kota Pekanbaru. Potensi sampah yang dihasilkan kota tercinta ini lebih dari 500 ton/harinya, 14% diantaranya sampah plastik. Meskipun memiliki jumlah yang lebih sedikit dari dari sampah organik, namun masalah terbesar yang timbulkan adalah karena sifatnya yang sulit membusuk akibat sulit diurai oleh mikro organisme yang ada di tanah, sehingga dapat bertahan dalam waktu yang lama (10 – 500 tahun). Para peneliti telah melakukan berbagai upaya terbaik 4untuk mengurangi limbah plastik yang ada. Diantaranya dengan menggunakan konsep 3R, sehingga dapat menjadi sesuatu yg bermanfaat. Ada juga yang mengubahnya menjadi bahan bangunan, seperti paving blok dan batu bata. Hanya saja produk yang dihasilkan masih menampilkan warna yang kusam (gelap), sehingga menjadi kurang menarik. Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan mekanisme atau cara melelehkan plastik agar dapat menjadi bahan baku produk baru. Hal ini terjawab dengan mengatur batas atas temperatur dan waktu yang diizinkan, agar warna dasar dari produknya tidak berubah.

Waste is a serious environmental problem worldwide. Waste can refer to various types of materials or substances resulting from human, industrial, agricultural and other activities. The waste problem covers aspects such as management, environmental impact and human health. In this paper, an Islamic perspective on waste recycling in building architecture is discussed. Case studies involving architectural works with the use of building waste reflect the principle of recycling in practice. Waste buildings are materials or structures which have been retired for their original purpose but which still have the potential to be reused with little or no major alterations. Architectural works such as households, community facilities, or even commercial buildings can use used materials that are still usable to reduce demand for new resources. However, in implementing the recycling concept in architecture, it is necessary to pay attention to several aspects, such as structural safety, quality of used materials, and compatibility with the surrounding environment. Islam encourages the use of resources wisely and in moderation, as well as minimizing negative impacts on the environment. This is the responsibility of humans as caliphs on earth to preserve the environment and to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. as well as compatibility with the surrounding environment.
