Abstract

The system of yurtluk-ocaklık which was set to implement during the reign of Selim I, completely lost its function in the 19 th century. This system was therefore regulated in the process of centralization policies which started with Tanzimat. For this purpose, firstly, all the powerfull notables in the eastern provinces were moved away from these areas.
