Meta-Analysis of the Factors Influencing the Restoration of Spontaneous Circulation After Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Abstract: ObjectiveThis study aimed to systematically evaluate the factors influencing the restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after cardiopulmonary arrest (CA).MethodsRelevant papers on the factors influencing the ROSC in patients with CA were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China Biology Medicine disk, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and VIP databases. After screening, data extraction, and quality evaluation of the papers, a meta-analysis was carried out.ResultsA total of 3… Show more

“…The initial rhythm is another critical factor because timely defibrillation can increase the ROSC rate when a shockable rhythm occurs[ 16 ]. In the present study, the initial rhythm was also an essential variable of P-ROSC after adjusting for other variables ( P < 0.001).…”

“…The median time between activation and EMS arrival was 13 minutes. It is important to work on decreasing the response time of the AO for OHCA assistance, given that the condition under study is time-dependent; that is, the more timely the assistance and specific interventions, the higher the probability of ROSC and hence of improved survival, since after this time range the metabolic changes become incompatible with life (13,17,24,25).…”

“…Despite these indicators, it's important for healthcare providers to remain vigilant, as certain factors may mimic signs of ROSC without genuine circulation restoration. Therefore, a comprehensive and multifaceted approach, incorporating both clinical and technological assessments, is essential in accurately determining ROSC and guiding further interventions (9).…”
