Metaverse in Heritage Conservation Evaluation “Using Fully Immersive Virtual Reality Techniques to Evaluate Preservation Quality”

Abstract: The main problem facing the preservation of Egyptian antiquities, is the difficulty of moving an archaeological team of international experts and participants from foreign countries with the Egyptian teams together to inspect a specific antiquity in the western bank in Luxor, for example, causes the lack of periodic follow-up of antiquities and the lack of restoration quality assurance, which ultimately leads to bad results and sometimes having to remove the wrong repairs and do the restoration again. Also, La… Show more

“…Even metaverse technology has a great potential for supporting the world of education because it is a new technology in the future [37]. The function of metaverse technology is the transformation of learning media making it easier for teachers to teach and refine students' minds [38]. Metaverse technology is a transformation of learning media has the function of overcoming the limitations of the experience possessed by students, the experience of each student is different depending on the factors that determine the richness of the child's experience, the number of benefits obtained from learning media and the teacher as a source of information carriers for students.…”

“…These technologies are created by guidelines that promote interoperability, such as the Virtual Reality Modelling Language (VRML), which controls the physics, properties, computer graphics, and interpretation of virtual assets. This allows users to move across the Metaverse easily [53]. Figure 8 shows AR, VR, MR, and XR in Metaverse.…”

“…In addition, VR can be used to simulate the effects of different conservation and restoration approaches of unreachable sites, allowing researchers to test these approaches before (if possible) implementing them on the actual sites [9]. In the same way, VR technology can be also used to simulate archaeological excavations [10], allowing researchers to test hypotheses and explore different scenarios in a controlled environment.…”
