Microarray analysis of immediate-type allergy in KU812 cells in response to fulvic acid

Abstract: Fulvic acid (FA) is class of compounds of humic substances formed through the degradation of organic substances by chemical and biological processes. FA has been utilized in traditional Chinese medicine and possesses various pharmacological properties. Previously, we reported that FA extracted from solubilized excess sludge (SS-FA) had an inhibitory effect on b-hexosaminidase release in human leukemia basophilic (KU812) cells. In this study, we investigated the effects of SS-FA on the immediate-type allergic r… Show more

“…Fulvic acid (FA), a class of compounds of humic substances, is a mixture of polyphenolic acid compounds formed through the degradation of organic substances such as dead plants, microbes and animals by chemical and biological processes [ 1 ]. FA has been reported recently to have nutraceutical properties and physiological action on the human body.…”

“…Shilajit is one of the substances most used in Ayurvedic medicine for its therapeutic antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its alleged antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects[4]. There has been only one in vitro study where fulvic acid has shown an inhibitory effect on human leukemia basophil (KU812) cells[6]. The active constituent of Shilajit are dibenzo-α-pyrones and related metabolites and fulvic acid.…”

“…With an increase in FA concentration from 30 μg/mL, the H 2 O 2 scavenging activity began to decline, and the H 2 O 2 scavenging activity at the highest concentration of 100μg mL -1 decreased to 25.78%. FA, a soluble class of humic substances at each pH value, is a mixture of polyphenolic acid compounds that occur as a result of chemical and biological degradation of organic materials such as dead plants, microbes and animals (Motojima et al, 2011;Guzman-Martinez et al, 2013). There are studies to investigating antioxidant activity of FA obtained from different natural sources e.g.…”
