Microbial Food Safety in China: Past, Present, and Future

Abstract: Food safety is a major public health issue worldwide, especially in heavily populated countries such as China. As in other countries, the predominant food safety issues in China are foodborne diseases caused by microbial pathogens. Hence, this review provides a systematic overview on microbial food safety in the past, present, and future in China. Management of microbial food safety in China is generally divided into three stages: Stage I before 2000, Stage II from 2000 to 2009, and Stage III from 2010 to pres… Show more

“…All these studies show that WLTT has an excellent preventive effect on obesity. Food safety is a constant focus worldwide (He & Shi, 2021 ; Rodríguez‐Pérez et al, 2019 ), and the safety of WLTT based on a new research idea is also a focus of the team. Analysis of liver indices, ALT, AST, and HE staining of liver tissues at the end of the experiment showed that WLTT could improve the liver function of rats in a hypercaloric model, with a potential protective effect.…”

“…Food safety has long been the subject of research worldwide, 19 , 20 and it is acknowledged to be an important national security issue. 21 During the COVID-19 era, a large number of studies have shown that virulence, individual susceptibility, and immunity are key determinants of susceptibility to disease following exposure to the COVID-19 virus.…”

“…Foodborne pathogens frequently cause public health emergencies ( Josephs-Spaulding et al, 2016 ; Antunes et al, 2020 ) and have become a critical concern in food safety in China ( He and Shi, 2021 ). Pathogenic microorganisms can lead to both food poisoning and contamination.…”
