Micromonospora wenchangensis sp. nov., isolated from mangrove soil

Abstract: An actinomycete, strain 2602GPT1-05 T , was isolated from a composite mangrove soil sample collected from Wenchang, Hainan province, China. Strain 2602GPT1-05 T showed closest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to Micromonospora haikouensis 232617 T (99.05 %), and phylogenetically clustered with Micromonospora haikouensis 232617 T , Micromonospora matsumotoense IMSNU 22003 T (98.7 %) and Micromonospora rifamycinica AM105 T (98.6 %) based on the 16S rRNA and gyrB gene sequence phylogenetic analysis. The strain h… Show more

“…Menaquinones and phospholipids were extracted and purified according to the protocol of Minnikin et al (1984). Menaquinones were analysed by HPLC with an ODS-BP C18 column (4.66250 mm) and phospholipids were separated and identified by twodimensional TLC (silica gel 60; 10610 cm) (Ren et al, 2013). TLC plates were developed with anisaldehyde and molybdenum blue reagents.…”

“…Soil samples were pretreated, diluted by an established procedure (Ren et al, 2013) and spread on selective agar , then incubated at 28 8C for 4-12 weeks. A tiny colony of strain 2701SIM06…”

“…Additionally, several strains have been proposed as potential candidates for plant growth-promoting bacteria through nitrogen fixation and antagonistic activities against phytopathogens (Martínez-Hidalgo et al , 2014; Raaijmakers & Mazzola, 2012). The typical characteristic of members in this genus is the formation of single, non-motile spores on sporophores of the substrate mycelium and the absence of aerial mycelium (Nimaichand et al , 2013; Ren et al , 2013). Recently, two new species of the genus Micromonospora , Micromonospora palomenae and Micromonospora harpali , were reported (Fang et al , 2015).…”
