Abstract:Deficiencies of vitamins C, D, and E, copper, selenium, and zinc in patients with burns are related to poor clinical outcomes. The physiology of the deficiencies is likely multifactorial, with tissue catabolism, hormone response, oxidative stress, hypoalbuminemia, wound losses, and medications being contributors.
