“…High manganese austenite steels, as traditional wear-resistance alloys, possess high toughness and excellent wear resistance under high impact energy work conditions because of the high workhardening capacity [1][2][3][4]. Metastable austenite manganese steels, in comparison with high manganese austenite steels, perform better wear resistance under low stress abrasive wear condition [5].…”

“…Hadfield steel's high toughness, high ductility, high work hardening ability, and exceptional wear resistance make it a highly suitable material for mining, crashing, drilling, steelmaking, naval, automotive, and excavation applications. [2,3] Those excellent mechanical properties are due to the austenitic matrix of the material combined with a martensitic surface layer which are formed during solution-annealing at 1050 8C followed by rapid water quenching. [4,5] Further mechanical properties improvement can be achieved by reducing the austenitic grain size in the as-cast condition, by grain growth hindering during heat treatment and through proper ladle treatment during the production process.…”

“…metallurgy, mining and railway due to the excellent properties such as the high toughness, good wear resistance, especially the high work hardening capacity [1][2][3]. However, their applications are limited under low stress as their high work hardening capacity can only be obtained under heavy stress or high load impact.…”
