Microstructure and Mechanical Properties in the Friction Stir Welded C70600 Alloy

Abstract: A friction stir welded (FSW-ed) C70600 alloy plate was partially welded to other C70600 alloy plate by the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). First, FSW was performed on the C70600 alloy by 2-steps (on the top and the bottom). The ultimate tensile strength after FSW was average 317MPa very close to that (average 324MPa) of GTAW-ed C70600 joint. The bending test results after FSW varied by the welding condition. Case A failed the bending test according to the ASME code (ASME Sec. Ⅸ) at the face bending because of… Show more

“…Cu-Ni 90/10 alloys produced by conventional production techniques in the casting and plastic forming process have been the subject of many studies of mechanical properties [ 18 , 19 , 20 ] and corrosion properties in the conditions of seawater and other solutions [ 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 ]. The microstructure and properties of the friction-welded CuNi10 alloy were also investigated [ 29 ]. The Cu-Ni 90/10 alloy is also used to create anti-corrosion coatings on steel materials, which, similarly to the epoxy polymer corrosion inhibitors used [ 30 ], are intended to limit the corrosion rate of less resistant steel.…”

“…For the tool without shoulder industrial application the welding imperfections have to be overcome. Chung, et al [7]. They were partly joined by the gas tungsten arc welding process the C70600 alloy plate to other C70600 alloy plate.…”
