“…Microwave-assisted regeneration of the catalytic filter has been proposed to accelerate soot combustion. This way was explored by Zhang-Steenwinkel et al 487 for regeneration of a La 0.8 Ce 0.2 MnO 3 perovskite-coated ceramic monolith. With an incident power of 200 W, maximum conversion toward CO 2 was reached after 2.5 min at 650 °C.…”

“…Ciambelli et al used perovskites as methane combustion catalysts,16 and also applied mw irradiation to regenerate ceramic foam soot traps 17. Recently, our group showed that La 0.8 Ce 0.2 MnO 3 can catalyse the selective combustion of methane, CO and synthetic soot to give CO 2 using mw irradiation 1820. Our success with mixed ceria catalysts21 prompted us to search for a mixed perovskite that would combine a high tolerance for SO 2 poisoning, a high activity in the simultaneous oxidation of both hydrocarbons and CO to give only CO 2 , and a high mw susceptibility.…”

“…Therefore, a trade-off between maximum regeneration efficiency and prolonged filter life has to be found. Towards this aim, few attempts combine microwave heating with catalysis in the regeneration of diesel soot-filters [7][8][9]. A key parameter to achieve high regeneration efficiency is the choice of the catalyst with both, specific activity towards soot oxidation and good microwave absorption properties [10,11].…”
