Microwave dielectric characterization of binary mixture of formamide with N, N-dimethylaminoethanol

Abstract: Dielectric relaxation measurements of formamide (FMD)-N ,Ndimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) solvent mixtures have been carried out over the entire concentration range using time domain reflectometry technique at 25, 35 and 45 • C in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 20 GHz. The mixtures exhibit a principle dispersion of the Davidson-Cole relaxation type at microwave frequencies.Bilinear calibration method is used to obtain complex permittivity ε * (ω) from complex reflection coefficient ρ * (ω) over the frequency ran… Show more

“…This significant deviation from unity in the ( ) values of the studied systems confirms that the effective dipoles in the mixture will be less than the corresponding average value in pure liquids and the clustering due to dipole-dipole interaction between the two hetero molecules. Modified forms of corrective correlation factor have been used to study the orientation of electric dipoles in binary mixture of anilines with 2-BE named as the effective Kirkwood correlation factor ( eff ) [24][25][26].…”

“…It may be leads to the formation of monomers and dimmers. 3,27,28 The negative values of excess dielectric constant in 2-BU rich region indicate that dipole moment per unit volume decrease with the antiparllel alignment of dipoles which contribute to decrease in dielectric polarization. It may be leads to formation of multimers.…”

“…The values of excess inverse relaxation time is negative over entire concentrations of 2-BU and for all temperature indicate slower rotation of dipoles. 2,3,29 This is due to dipole-dipole interaction (chlorine group (-Cl) of AC and carbonyl group (C=O) of 2-BU) produces a field in such way that the effective dipoles rotation is hindered. The plot of excess molar volume (V E ) of binary mixtures is shown in Fig.…”

“…It increases dielectric polarization of mixtures and lead to formation of monomer and dimmer. 17,18 The magnitude of value of ALC+2-HE greater than ALC+2-PE suggest that strength of dipole-dipole interaction of ALC with 2-HE greater than ALC with 2-PE. The maximum magnitude of of ALC+2-PE and ALC+2-HE occur at 0.24 mole fraction of 2-PE and at 0.21 mole fraction of 2-HE respectively.…”
