Milk productivity and milk quality when feeding cows with silostan-containing haylage

Abstract: In the Middle Volga region, alfalfa is the most widely used bean fodder. In recent years, one more bean crop is used -Fodder galega. The main disadvantage of almost all legumes is low sugar content and poor haylage making abilities. To eliminate this drawback, the biological product "Silostan" was developed. It is used as a preservative. The aim of the work is to study the effect of alfalfa and Fodder galega haylage made using the bio-preservative "Silostan" on milk production and quality of milk of black and … Show more

“…Galega orientalis is recommended by many researchers as a highly productive fodder plant of very high nutritional value [27,[35][36][37][38]. One of the reasons for its high productivity, which reaches 80 tons of green matter per 1 ha annually, is its high adaptability to a new environment and good yielding even under the adverse distribution of precipitations during the plant's growing period [39]. The research demonstrated that the increased productivity follows from a very compact sward, which fodder galega is capable of developing and maintaining for several years [1,4,22].…”

“…The study of the quality of average samples of silage, taken two months after the trench laying, showed that the use of green mass of alfalfa, dried to a moisture content of 50-55%, bio-preservative GreenGrass 3×3, which included strains of lactic acid, propionic acid and sporeforming bacteria, a complex of amino acids, enzymes, vitamins and microelements, had a positive effect on the nutritional value of the finished feed [14,15].…”

“…Due to the fact that the composition of biological preservatives includes strains of lactic acid, propionic acid, spore-forming bacteria, enzymes, complexes of amino acids, vitamins and microelements, it is very important to know what effect the feed prepared with their addition will have on the chemical composition and technological properties of milk, especially during cheese making, when microorganisms are also used [14,15].…”
