Mineralogy and quality of Banti Coal, Baraka District, Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia.

Abstract: Coal deposits in Banti Village, Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia are geographically located at coordinates: 03°27‘59.72” south latitude and 119°51‘34.35” east longitude and are categorized as medium coal quality. This is evidenced by the results of several analysis that have been carried out. Microscopic analysis showed that there were three dominant minerals such as quartz, pyrite and clay. While the results of mineralogical analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD) coal in Banti Village show… Show more

“…Berdasarkan interpretasi tersebut, mineral lempung dapat diklasifikasikan sebagai tipe epigentik yang terbentuk di pori-pori dan rongga sel dari konstituen organik selama proses gambut. Selain itu, pada Gambar 3 bagian (B) dan (C), penampakan mineral lempung juga terlihat mengisi celah dan diinterpretasikan sebagai tipe epigenetik yang terbentuk dari batuan pengapit selama proses pembatubaraan [10].…”

“…The quality of South Sulawesi's coal is still relatively low and mostly used for additional fuel in cement factories and some local industries. South Sulawesi coal is spread in several districts [2][3][4][5][6][7][8], one of which is located in Barru Regency. One of the locations for coal deposits in Barru Regency is in the Paludda Region, Pujananting District.…”

“…The coal formation environment itself must be an anaerobic basin, that is, there is no oxygen involved in the process [8,9] Coal mining activities in the study area Lamuru, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi are carried out with open pit mines so that rocks in coal stratification are exposed to the surface. As for the impact negative to the environment as a result of the activity mining one of them is the problem of acidic water acid mine drainage [10].…”
