MINERALS AND PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS OF CAGAITA FRUITS AT DIFFERENT MATURATION STAGES (Eugenia dysenterica)

Abstract: -Cerrado is the largest biome in the state of Minas Gerais-Brazil, represented by a biodiversity of fruit species, especially cagaita (Eugenia dysenterica). Cagaita fruits are considered an important option for fruit growing, because they are source of phenolic compounds with antioxidant properties and mineral content that can contribute with beneficial health effects. In this study, phenolic compounds were characterized by high-performance liquid chromatography and the mineral content of ripe and unripe cagai… Show more

“…The m/z 683 substance can be identified as a caffeic acid 3glucoside dimer. Guedes et al (2017), using HPLC, characterized the cagaita's fruit in different stages (green and ripe) and identified caffeic acid (0,28 and 1,57 mg/100g) and p-coumaric acid (2,79 and 20,92 mg/100g) in both stages, respectively.…”

“…Green and ripe cagaita fruits are rich in phenolic compounds such as: galic acid, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid and quercetin, besides its mineral content, making the fruit a promising fount of bioactive compounds, with antioxidants, antiobesity and nutritive action (Guedes et al, 2017;Bueno et al, 2017).…”

“…As frutas exóticas ou nativas brasileiras apresentam grande potencial nutricional, econômico e social, no entanto a exploração desses frutos ainda é extrativista. (Guedes et al, 2017). Como são sazonais as perdas pós-colheita desses produtos devem ser evitadas.…”
