Mini-Laparoscopic Versus Conventional Laparoscopic Surgery for Benign Adnexal Masses

Abstract: BackgroundMinimally invasive endoscopic surgery has become an acceptable method for gynecologic indications for more than 20 years. We aimed to compare clinical and surgical outcomes between mini-laparoscopic surgery (MLS) and conventional laparoscopic surgery (CLS) for benign adnexal masses. As far as we know, no comparative study exists between these two minimal invasive procedures.MethodsDuring the period between January 2014 and December 2016, a total number of 132 laparoscopic surgeries were performed for… Show more

“…In addition, patients in the needlescopic group tended to require fewer intramuscular pethidine injections (P = 0.05). To date, several studies on needlescopic cholecystectomy and gynecologic surgery have been reported [16][17][18][19] ; however, regarding colorectal surgery, only 2 studies have been reported, which merely describe surgical techniques. 20,21 Currently, to the best of our knowledge, there have been no studies that have evaluated the efficacy and safety of 3 mm trocar use in colorectal cancer surgery.…”

“…The ability to maneuver instruments in one port is limited and the enlarged uterus influences the view and There are two possible areas of future improvement for this technique. Minilaparoscopy uses 2-5 mm diameter laparoscopic instruments that can improve the cosmetic outcomes of surgery (22,23). Minilaparoscopic single-site surgery is a new surgical procedure that combines the advantage of minilaparoscopic and single-site surgery.…”

“…The limited agreement on specific items that we found between patients and observers is consistent with studies that reported differences in scar appreciation between patients and observers on linear scars. 5,[22][23][24] Eskes et al only found a "moderate" agreement on the overall opinion item of the POSAS on donor-site scars in a general trauma population and also a F I G U R E Bland and Altman plots demonstrating the agreement of Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) overall opinion scores between patients and caregivers at 3 (left) and 12 (right) months post-surgery. Each dot in the figure represents a donor-site scar judged by the patient and observers.…”
