Miniature drone antenna design for the detection of airliners

Abstract: In this paper, the design of a miniature antenna dedicated to the detection of airliners through the demodulation of Automatic Dependence Surveillance-Broadcast system (ADS-B) signals is presented. This antenna is designed for being embedded on the top of a drone in order to detect and avoid collisions with airliners. This antenna consists of an array of Planar Inverted-F Antennas, a quadrature feed network (FN) and a reflector plane (RP). The FN is designed to have output signals with the same amplitude and a… Show more

“…Moreover, the average difference in flight distance is expected to dwindle as observation time 𝜔 increases since optimal scheme 𝜎 in the sense of minimizing the number of points of interest does not minimize the flight distance more frequently as 𝜔 increases. The table below summarizes specifications of a common multicopter [24][25][26]. Consider a wireless sensor network that employs such a multicopter as a sink node.…”

“…The antenna consisted of an array of planar inverted-F antennas, a reflector plane, and a quadrature feed network. The test shows that it can detect aircrafts up to 437 km [30]. Besides antennas, another research designed and prototyped a cards system that is lightweight and small enough to be placed on a UAV, and could create and broadcast a ADS-B message compliant with RTCA DO-282B [31].…”
