miR‑151a‑5p promotes the proliferation and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma cells by targeting AGMAT

Abstract: Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is one of the most common types of digestive cancer. It has been reported that the ectopic expression of microRNAs (miRs) plays a critical role in the occurrence and progression of CRC. In addition, it has also been suggested that miR-151a-5p may serve as a useful biomarker for the early detection and treatment of different types of cancer and particularly CRC. However, the specific effects and underlying mechanisms of miR-151a-5p in CRC remain elusive. The results of the current stu… Show more

“…With addition of a DNA oligo serving as a catalyst (see “target/chaperone/c-151” in Table S1 for the sequence), we expect that a thermodynamically more stable hairpin HP3 will form after a toehold-mediated strand displacement and self-assembly (Figure A). , The catalyst or chaperone employed in this study serves as a DNA substitute for microRNA-151, a clinically significant molecule recognized as a crucial cancer biomarker. Research indicates that miRNA-151 plays a pivotal role in the proliferation and metastasis of various cancer types. , As expected, in the stretching FX curves (blue curve in Figure B), only one rupture event was observed at an unfolding force (14.2 ± 2.2 pN) greater than that of each of the two small hairpins. The Δ L of the feature was consistent with that of the HP3 (observed Δ L, 38.0 ± 3.7 nm; expected Δ L for HP3: 37.6 nm; see Figure S7 for calculation).…”
