Mixed structure Zn(S,O) nanoparticles: synthesis and characterization

Abstract: In the present work, mixed structure Zn(S,O) nanoparticles have been synthesized using solution based chemical coprecipitation technique. Two different zinc sources (Zn(CH 3 COO) 2 ·2H 2 O and ZnSO 4 ·7H 2 O) and one sulfur source (CSNH 2 NH 2 ) have been used as primary chemical precursors for the synthesis of the nanoparticles in the presence and absence of a capping agent (EDTA). The structural, morphological, compositional and optical properties of the nanoparticles have been analyzed using X-ray diffracti… Show more

“…This peak is sharp well which indicates the formation of pure phase particles. The residual hydroxyl groups further supported by the presence of absorbance bands in the region of ~1600 cm -1 and ~800 cm -1 [9,22]. The strong broad band at 1471 cm -1 and a peak at 876 cm -1 indicate the C-O bond arose because of the carbonation of CaO nanoparticles [9].…”

“…The small variation in the value of lattice constant and d-spacing from that of the bulk value is attributed to the presence of microstrain and defects that occurred during the growth process. These microstrain and dislocation densities have been determined (Table 1) using the relation given by Dhupar et al [22] with an average value of 2.764×10 -3 and 6.32×10 -15 line/m 2 respectively.…”

“…As exhibited in Figure 1d,e, the adsorption signals located at 646 and 749 cm −1 are observed on Zn sheets soaked in DASS/H 2 O solution, which can be related to the vibrations of Zn─N bond. [ 33 ] Additionally, another set of peaks of 845 and 1044 cm −1 are corresponded to the Zn─S bond, [ 34 ] further demonstrating the interfacial coordination. And the Raman spectra of Zn sheet immersed in DASS/H 2 Osolution also delivers the Zn─S bonds at 257, 785, and 1129 cm −1 , as well as the Zn─N bond at 423 cm −1 (Figure 1f).…”
