“…Significant efforts began in the mid 2000s, with formalized curriculum in data curation starting around 2006, soon followed by a range of other curricular efforts to build data expertise (Gold, ). Progress has been made establishing competencies in data literacy for critically evaluating, using, and managing data, as well as curriculum for research data management to support diverse research communities, including model internship programs to help prepare students for the data intensive research environment (Kelly et al, ; Ortiz‐Repiso, Greenberg, & Calzado‐Prado, 2018).
