Modeling and Analysis of a Piezoelectric Energy Harvester with Varying Cross-Sectional Area

Abstract: This paper reports on the modeling and on the experimental verification of electromechanically coupled beams with varying cross-sectional area for piezoelectric energy harvesting. The governing equations are formulated using the Rayleigh-Ritz method and Euler-Bernoulli assumptions. A load resistance is considered in the electrical domain for the estimate of the electric power output of each geometric configuration. The model is first verified against the analytical results for a rectangular bimorph with tip ma… Show more

“…Rosa and De Marqui Junior conducted research on the modeling and experimental verification of electromechanically-coupled beams with varying cross-sectional areas [13]. The results of the modeling and experimental verification of the proposed model were reported and compared to Erturk and Inman's reported results [14].…”

“…So, the most common construction for piezoelectric energy harvesting is simple cantilever beam. Many authors investigated various geometrical implementation of the cantilevers [7][8][9][10]. Also, several authors were focused on possibility of improving efficiency of the cantilever by increasing strain level and its distribution along length of the beam [11][12][13].…”
