Modeling of a Waveguide‐Based UV–VIS–IR Spectrometer Based on a Lateral (In,Ga)N Alloy Gradient

Abstract: The author presents the simulation and modeling of a waveguide-based ultracompact spectrometer for the near-ultraviolet through visible to infrared spectral range based on a lateral material gradient of In x Ga 1Àx N from GaN to InN. Using reasonable material parameters from the literature, the reconstruction of a model spectrum in the range 0.8-3.5 eV is simulated for a lateral gradient from x ¼ 0 to x ¼ 1. The experimental realization of such spectrometer could drastically simplify confocal scanning microsco… Show more

“…Another strategy to increase the ease of fabricating a wide range of transmission wavelengths is to use a linear variable filter, which is typically either a wedged (52) or composition-graded filter (53), where the transmission or reflection spectrum varies continuously along one axis of the filter. One approach here is to simply scan a spectrum by sliding the filter over a single detector (54).…”

“…Die nachfolgende ortsaufgelöste Untersuchung der strukturellen, elektrischen und optischen Eigenschaften erlaubt die vollständige Charakterisierung der Legierungssysteme. Kürzlich wurden von uns auch neue Bauelement-Konzepte für miniaturisierte Spektrometer auf der Basis der Materialgradienten vorgestellt [31,32].…”
