The newly added GNSS frequencies will provide better and more precise positioning services. That will improve the accuracy and precision of location tracking using mobile devices. But there are a large variety of such frequencies, due to which it is difficult for antenna designers to select the most optimum one for design. Therefore, before beginning the design of an antenna system build for positioning services, there is a need of intensive study in this field. Thus, this paper discusses in brief the different GNSS frequencies and their purpose and also summarizes types of GNSS antennas available, with focus on pros and cons of different miniaturization techniques. Finally, we propose a novel miniaturization technique which is implemented to reduce the size of dual feed stacked patch antenna for GNSS L1/L2.
