In regions with a continental climate, refrigerators with air-cooled condensers operate at high condensation pressures during the summer season which reduces their efficiency and accelerates the wear of compressors. To reduce condensation pressure, it was proposed to use radiative cooling which is a way of heat removal through the planet's atmosphere to outer space in a form of infrared radiation. A refrigerating machine with an assembly of condensation heat removal including air and liquid cooling condensers connected in series has been developed. To reduce the condensation temperature, a pre-cooled heat-transfer agent is fed to the liquid cooling condenser during the day hours at high atmospheric temperatures. At night, the heat-transfer agent is cooled by radiative cooling. An experimental study of the operation of a 600 W refrigerating machine including a sealed piston compressor was conducted. R134a refrigerant was used. Supply of pre-cooled heat-transfer agent at +33.1 °С has provided a reduction of condensation temperature from +47.0 to +39.1 °С. The study was conducted at an atmospheric air temperature of +38.0 °С. The degree of pressure growth was decreased by 30 %. The refrigeration coefficient was increased by 11 %. In comparison with the conventional scheme with an air-cooled condenser, energy consumption by the system did not change in the daytime. The offered scheme of condensation heat removal reduces the pressure of condensation and provides stability for refrigerating machine operation. It can be used in stationary refrigerating machines at high daytime temperatures.

Radiation cooling is a passive energy saving cooling technology. The process of cooling heat transfer liquid due to the combined effect of night radiative cooling and convection of air at negative temperatures (in winter) is studied. The radiator used for cooling was built into the roof of the building. Its radiating plate was made of a steel sheet coated with zinc oxide. In it, heat dissipation was carried out both from the upper and lower sides of the radiating plate. The experimental values of the heat flux ranged from 20 to 80 W·m−2 at a temperature difference between heat transfer liquid and air from 5 to 15 °C and ambient air temperature from −17 to +5 °C. The correctness of the model for calculating the heat flux in winter conditions was confirmed. A theoretical calculation showed that, in winter, the heat flux removed by the radiator will be 15% less than the heat flux in summer. The amount of heat transferred per watt of electrical power of the refrigeration unit reached 8 W·W−1. To keep the refrigeration unit with radiative heat transfer more efficient than in a conventional vapor compression chiller, the heat transfer liquid temperature should be 6 °C above the atmospheric temperature air. The results of the study show that radiative cooling can be used in winter and may be useful for the development of energy-efficient cooling systems for various purposes (air conditioning, industrial cooling systems and fruit storage chambers).

Objective. Night radiative cooling (Radiative cooling) is based on the phenomenon of Earth's effective radiation, in which heat is removed into the atmosphere and partially carried away into outer space, which leads to a decrease in the temperature of objects located on the Earth's surface below the air temperature in the surface layer.Method. The research is based on methods of thermodynamic analysis, full-scale and computational modeling of processes and objects of refrigeration and cryogenic technology. On the basis of the method developed by the authors and the existing method, a computational and theoretical analysis of radiative cooling for the Euro-Asian continent was carried out. As a result, the regularity of the change in the radiative cooling potential depending on the geographic latitude was determined, starting from the equator to the northernmost point of the continent. Schematic solutions and designs of refrigeration systems of various functional purposes for various regions with yearround use of radiative cooling have been developed. Theoretical and experimental studies of installations with radiative cooling are presented. for food storage and air conditioning was carried out.Conclusion. On the basis of the developed computer model, an analysis of the energy efficiency of refrigeration systems for food storage and air conditioning, in which the object is cooled by radiative cooling and a vapor compression refrigeration machine, was carried out using the simulation of the annual operation cycle in continental climatic conditions.
