ResumenEste artículo presenta una investigación sobre competencias en la escritura, expresadas por diferentes muestras de estudiantes universitarios. Estas competencias activan procesos universales de desarrollo escritor, esto es: procesos procedimentales--declarativos, condicionales, afectivos y socioculturales. La innovación de esta investigación es describir operativamente las competencias escritoras para su desarrollo en la formación inicial del profesorado. Otra innovación es el estudio de competencias escritoras en diferentes niveles universitarios. Para todo ello se aplica una metodología mixta. Por último, esta investigación fundamenta el diseño e implementación de la enseñanza de competencias escritoras. In the research area of writing development, an increasing number of researchers suggest that graphomotor skills could be much more important than they appear to be (Christensen, 2009). Few researchers have studied the link between handwriting and teaching practices, despite the fact that some studies indicate its importance (Graham, 2010). The general objective of this study is to explore the relationship between different handwriting styles and the development of writing skills among 715 children in Grade 2. Generally, our results show that the three handwriting styles (manuscript/cursive, manuscript, and cursive) have different effects on writing development (speed, quality, word production, and text production). Handwriting and Text ProductionBased on Hayes and Flower's model (1980), written production supposes three cognitive processes: planning (generating ideas and setting goals), translating (transcribing ideas into written text), and revising (rereading the text to improve clarity of idea expression). Further, Berninger and Swanson (1994) adapt this model to text production among younger writers. ResumenEl presente estudio se propone conocer el efecto del nivel escolar y el contexto social en la organización discursiva de dos géneros escritos. Se analizaron 240 historias personales y artículos explicativos escritos por 120 escolares de tres niveles de escolaridad: Séptimo Básico (12 años), Primero Medio (14 años) y Tercero Medio (16 años) y dos grupos sociales: Medio-Bajo (GSM) y Alto (GSA). Los textos fueron elicitados mediante un breve video sobre los usos de Internet y las redes sociales y luego etiquetados con CLAN. Para el análisis de datos se aplicaron Pruebas T y un diseño de ANOVA factorial mixto con dos factores intergrupales (nivel y grupo social). Los resultados muestran que en el GSM las historias se vuelven menos eventivas y más evaluativas con la edad, pero los artículos explicativos no modifican su organización discursiva. En el GSA hay evaluaciones en todas las edades, pero cambia el uso que se hace de las mismas en textos más extensos y complejos; los artículos explicativos cambian notablemente, tanto en extensión como en organización. Se concluye que la incorporación de nuevos recursos organizacionales y también el uso eficiente de tales recursos para elaborar la información en textos extensos, son características de la trayectoria hacia una producción discursiva competente.Palabras Clave: Desarrollo, organización discursiva, historia personal, artículo explicativo.
