“…ese changes have been observed in both exercise and the physical activity groups but significantly in those that have had behavioural associated counselling present as a part of the cardiac rehabilitation program [33,49]. Training inspiratory muscles at moderate thresholds for twice a week under an inspiratory muscle strengthening (IMT) program proved beneficial in improving the health related quality of life and functional capacity, thereby linking aerobic capacity and quality of life after 12 weeks in patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery [22]. In recent times with advancing technology, application of telerehabilitation and telemonitoring in cardiac disease patients placed at remote locations would connect them to health professionals at various centres.…”

“…These complications can lead to an increase in hospital stay, risk of functional decline and increased mortality rate. In this sense, inspiratory muscle training (IMT) appears as a tool for hospital rehabilitation of this population [1][2][3][4][5]. Some intra and postoperative procedures are directly linked to these complications: the median sternotomy, the effects of anesthesia, cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), use of chest tubes and invasive mechanical ventilation can alter respiratory mechanics [6,7].…”
