Modifying additive for concrete based on shungite processing waste

Abstract: The paper is devoted to the study of waste processing of shungite rocks, which are formed in the process of mining and technological operations. However, the market of national modifying additives based on local raw materials is not developed at the appropriate level in the presence of a rich resource base of the mining industry. In this regard, it is of great interest to obtain additives based on shungite rock processing waste, which allow expanding the range of mineral additives and providing qualitatively n… Show more

“…The main physical and technical characteristics of raw granules are given in Table 3. At 35% humidity, the raw density of the pellets was 650 g/cm 3 and at 25% humidity was 680 g/cm 3 , which is acceptable. When injected into the mixture 60-45% of cement ob-served the same pattern.…”

“…It is known that the aggregate in concrete occupies up to 80% of its volume. The pro-duction of light concrete with optimal properties depends on the type of artificial porous ag-gregate used (2,3,4) . In the work (5,6,7) it is noted that the ratio of cement to sand (C/S) at the same cement consumption increases, that is, the thickness of cement dough around the sand grains increases.…”

“…There is an opinion (Bazhenov, 2002;Lothenbach et al, 2008;Singh et al, 2017;Tang et al, 2017;Yestemessova et al, 2020;Zhakipbekov et al, 2021aZhakipbekov et al, , 2021bZhilkibayeva et al, 2021) that a decrease in the amount of Ca(ОН) 2 in cement stone increases the corrosion resistance of concrete in aggressive environments. Table 3 presents the results of water absorption tests for B25 and B35 heavy concretes based on the MV-D20 modified binder with the composite additive (Fig.…”

“…Those scientific principles and practical recommendations on the maximum cement content and its rational reduction that were set forth in some papers and monographs cannot be applied to the technology of high-strength concrete curing under normal conditions since there are other problems that need to be solved (Lothenbach et al, 2008;Singh et al, 2017;Yestemessova et al, 2020;Zhakipbekov et al, 2021aZhakipbekov et al, , 2021bZhilkibayeva et al, 2021) To activate waste (tailings from the Balkhash Mining and Processing Plant), microsilica in the amount of 8% of the cement mass was used. Thus, an MV-D20 modified binder with a composite additive was obtained (Zhakipbekov et al, 2020).…”

“…Functional renovations, or adaptive reuse, can be challenging. Various planning methods and tools have been developed to support adaptive reuse [15,16,17,18]. The main objectives are to determine the service life of building components, including architectural and engineering components, to determine the replacement life cycle model of building components, and to study the relationship between building characteristics and facility operating costs [19,20,21,22].…”
