Abstract: Deposition of amyloid plaques in the brains of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients is a hallmark of the disease. AD plaques consist primarily of the beta-amyloid (Aβ) peptide but can contain other factors such as lipids, proteoglycans, and chaperones.
