Molecular-biological problems of drug design and mechanism of drug action

Abstract: The main trends in the pharmacology and medicinal chemistry of triple reuptake inhibitors of monoamine transporters (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine) are reviewed. The inhibitors are grouped on the basis of common structural fragments that favor the given pharmacological activity. The most probable fields of application, including antidepressants with broader efficacy and quicker onset of action, for treating obesity, and with analgesic effects, are considered.
