“…It can be seen that some of the anti-B monoclonals gave completely negative reactions against B, cells. The importance of anti-B concentration is clearly shown by the reaction of BS 84 at three times the concentration with one of the B3 cells whilst it is negative with the neat supernatant (XI) level of antibody ( (Voak et al, 1983) all gave a titre of 512 with normal B cells but the otherwise potent NB1/19 showed a reduced reaction with the Bint and the B3 red cells and no reaction with the two examples of B, red cells. 5A5, on the other hand, gave higher titres than 3B4 with the Bin, and B3 red cells but failed to detect the weakest B, that gave a Table 51 confirms that the B, phenotype lacks a B epitope present in B and B3 red cells, as shown by the presence of anti-B in the eluates from these red cells ( Table 5).…”

“…Monoclonals that react with both A and B cells (anti -A,B) have been produced after immunising mice with A substance, group A red cells, or AB red cells [290,593,594,601] . Some of these antibodies react more strongly with A cells than with B cells [290,601] .…”

“…Over the first ‘8 months of life anti‐‘I’ becomes increasingly inaccessible as the branched chains become prominent and the cells then react as ‘I’‐positive. Also, in recent years, the development of monoclonal antibodies specific for complement components showed that the erythrocytes of CHAD patients are coated with C3g and C3d whilst other types of cold antibody AIHA give negative reactions with anti‐C3g but strong reaction with anti‐C3d serum (Voak et al , 1983).…”
