Monogamy of quantum correlations in three-qubit pure states

Abstract: The limitation on the shareability of quantum entanglement over several parties, the so-called monogamy of entanglement, is an issue that has caught considerable attention of quantum information community over the last decade. A natural question of interest in this connection is whether monogamy of correlations is true for correlations other than entanglement. This issue is examined here by choosing quantum deficit, proposed by Rajagopal and Rendell, an operational measure of correlations. In addition to estab… Show more

“…Interestingly, they find evidence that GreenbergerHorneZeilinger (GHZ)-type states are monogamous while W-type states are polygamous. (Sudha et al, 2012) give a similar result for monogamy of MID. (Giorgi, 2011) shows that entanglement monogamy and discord monogamy are the same for pure states.…”

“…The monogamy of quantum correlations in the case of three-qubit pure symmetric states, in the Majorana represen-tation [152], was addressed in [153], where the Rajagopal-Rendell quantum deficit (RRQD) [154,155] is used as the quantum correlation measure. For a bipartite quantum state ρ AB , RRQD is defined as the relative entropy distance [34,156] of the state ρ AB from ρ d AB = ij p ij |i i| ⊗ |j j|, which is diagonal in the eigenbasis of the marginals, ρ A , and ρ B , given by {|i } and {|j }, respectively.…”

“…Tripartite entanglement has been studied experimentally using optics [15][16][17] and NMR [18][19][20][21][22][23][24]. Recently, the entanglement properties of a permutation symmetric superposition of the W state and its obverseW = 1/ √ 3 (|100 + |101 + |110 ) have been characterized [25,26]:…”

“…[9]. If we assume another state to have the same two-party reduced density matrices as the WW state, this constraint can be used to prove that the new state is no different from the original WW state [25,26]. In this work we focus on the WW state.…”
