“…Depending on the type of the precursors, as well as conditions used for the process, the SCS may occur as either volume or layer-by-layer propagating combustion modes. This process was not only yields nanosized materials but also allows uniform (homogenous) doping of traces of rare-earth impurity ions in a single step (Devaraja, Avadhani, Nagabhushana, et al, 2014;Devaraja, Avadhani, Prashantha, et al, 2014a, 2014bFawad, Oh., Park, Kim, & Kim, 2014;Jayalakshmi & Balasubramanian, 2009;Kijima, Yoshinaga, Awaka, & Akimoto, 2011;Yang et al, 2014).…”

“…Lanthanum orthophosphate (LaPO 4 ), which belongs to two crystalline structures: the monoclinic monozite type (for Ln=La to Gd) and the quadratic xenotime type (for Ln=Tb to Lu), has been showing to be an attractive host lattice for lanthanide ions to prepare phosphors that emit in a broad range of colors [8,9]. LaPO 4 phosphors doped with different types of rare-earth ions, such as Eu 3 þ , Ce 3 þ , Tb 3 þ , Er 3 þ , Dy 3 þ , Sm 3 þ , Yb 3 þ and Pr 3 þ , have been reported in the literatures [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. Among all these orthophosphate-type phosphors, trivalent cerium (Ce 3 þ ) and terbium (Tb 3 þ ) co-activated LaPO 4 (LaPO 4 :Ce 3 þ ,Tb 3 þ ) phosphors are prominent because of the high-efficiency energy transfer between Ce 3 þ and Tb 3 þ , and the property stability at high temperatures.…”

“…In the past, many important luminescent materials have been prepared in the form of nanoparticles, nanorods or nanowires, and their optical properties have been deeply studied. [1,2] Recently, lanthanide compounds have attracted interest because of their spacious applicability in magnets, phosphors, catalysts, biochemical probes, and medical diagnostics. [3,4] Numerous researches on rare earth orthophosphates (REPO 4 ) have been reported recently.…”
