Morphology of PbI2 Crystals Grown by Gel Method

Abstract: The single crystals of Lead Iodide have been grown by gel method. X‐ray diffraction studies on these crystals shows that the lattice parameters of grown crystals are almost matching with reported values. The results of detailed studies made on the microstructures of Lead Iodide crystals, have been described. The observations of the faces of these crystals revealed that they have grown by layer as well as spiral mechanisms. The probable role of these parameters is explained along with the surface microstructure… Show more

“…These edges act as initiation centers of dendrite patterns. In the present observation, platelets may be developed first and then dendrite pattern may be formed as reported [20]. It is also interesting to see pits within pits, as in Figure 5, similar to an observation reported [21] in case of natural CaF 2 crystals.…”

“…Both PbS and PbI 2 crystals were grown from silica gels previously but the internal structures of the crystals were not examined and gel-incorporation was not found [4,[40][41][42][43]. Here, we clearly demonstrate that the silica gels were incorporated by the PbS and PbI 2 single-crystals, providing an approach to construct internal composite structures in these semiconducting single-crystals by gel networks.…”

“…It is also preferable when Authors give DOI number of each reference list in bracket [3], but it is optional for Authors. References list must be written consistently, whether the journal titles are written in short (i.e.…”
