Mouse Phenome Database (MPD)

Abstract: The Mouse Phenome Database (MPD; ) is a repository of phenotypic and genotypic data on commonly used and genetically diverse inbred strains of mice. Strain characteristics data are contributed by members of the scientific community. Electronic access to centralized strain data enables biomedical researchers to choose appropriate strains for many systems-based research applications, including physiological studies, drug and toxicology testing and modeling disease processes. MPD provides a community data reposit… Show more

“…In recent years, phenotypic datasets for measures of behavior and neurosensory function, as well as anatomy, blood chemistry, drug effects, and multiple other parameters, have been assembled into the Mouse Phenome Database (MPD), housed at JAX ( [4]; http://www.jax.org/phenome). The inbred strains for our studies on mouse behavioral tasks relevant to autism were predominantly from the groups given highest priority for phenotyping by the Mouse Phenome Project.…”

“…White cell counts from Clec4e MNA and Clec4e MNB mice were generally low, but within normal ranges reported for C57BL/6J mice (from the Mouse Phenome Database http://www. jax.org/phenome (30,31)). In this current study, circulating white blood cell counts of Clec4e MNA and Clec4e MNB mice were 20% lower than those of control C57BL/6J mice ( p Ͻ 0.05), and this depression was observed across neutrophil (25% lower), monocyte (15% lower), and lymphocyte (19% lower) counts.…”

“…Alternatively, for mouse research, an additional online tool that permits haplotype analysis across the entire genome for 16 strains of inbred mice is available through the Mouse Phenome Database (http://www.jax.org/phenome) (Bogue et al 2007). Since the resolution of both haplotype analysis and haplotype association mapping is finer than the 1.0-Mb resolution of our maps in Figure 1, we suggest simultaneously mapping your results from these analyses onto a complete gene list for the relevant chromosomal interval.…”
