Mucinous Secretion of Totally Isolated Porcine Stomach Perfused with Homologous Blood

Abstract: Principal glycoproteins and amino acids were determined in porcine gastric juice obtained from totally isolated stomachs perfused extracorporeally with homologous blood. Acid juices collected during prolonged stimulation of stomachs with histamine or pentagastrin, infused into gastric arteries, were used. All samples showed the presence of galactose, glucosamine, galactosamine, fucose, mannose and sulphate. Galactose and glucosamine were found in equimolar amounts and the galactose to galactosamine ratio was, … Show more

“…Gastric mucin contains high mo lecular weight glycoproteins, mucopolysaccharides, blood group sub stances, peptic enzymes and various proteins. Some components of gastric mucin have been studied previously in both in vivo [1,2,5,6,8,9,14,15] and ex vivo conditions [3], The purpose of the present experiment was to analyze canine gastric secretion for various mucinous components and for amino acids. Gastric secretion was obtained from canine Heiden hain pouches after stimulation with food, histamine or pentagastrin.…”
