Abstract: Resumo: Desde a implantação do Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (SINAES), CHANGES IN THE WEIGHTS OF THE CPC AND THEIR IMPACT ON RESULTS OF EVALUATION IN FEDERAL AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES. This paper aims to analyze the effect of the weights used in the CPC, and especially consider the impact that some changes would have on the CPC of programs offered by private and federal universities in Brazil.

“…According to MEC, the CC indicator is considered a definitive classification; however, the CPC is more important to measure the quality of undergraduate courses in Brazil. 17 The CPC is composed of three dimensions and respective weights: student's performance -55% (student's score in the ENADE and the score in the indicator of the difference between observed and expected performances); faculty -30% (the number of MSc and PhD professors and type of employment contract) and the students' perception of the conditions of the training process -15%. 16,18,19 As the ENADE and CPC indicators are composed of dimensions and weights, it is worth remembering that the researchers in the present study had access only to the final indices -and not to the dimensions that composed them.…”

“…In the present study, the CPC was chosen as the main indicator to measure quality. 17 Schools with CPC grades of 1 or 2 are automatically included in the on-site evaluation schedule while schools with grades equal to or greater than three may choose not to receive the evaluators' visit and thus transform the CPC into CC. 18 For analytical purposes, the indicators ENADE, CC and CPC were interpreted based on the MEC quality classification system for undergraduate schools, where, grade 1 = nonexistent school; grade 2 = insufficient; grade 3 = sufficient; grade 4 = very good; grade 5 = excellent; and no grade (NG), for schools with less than two participants.…”
