Mujeres migrantes en tránsito por México. La perspectiva cuantitativa y de género

Abstract: como son los robos y asaltos, los accidentes mortales y las muertes violentas. No obstante, existen algunas problemáticas del tránsito, como las agresiones sexuales y la trata de personas, que continúan afectando de manera destacada a las mujeres y sobre las cuáles la información existente es deficitaria.

“…As we observe in the above table, the duration of the journey appears to make no difference in the prevalence of robberies or assaults: 66.2% of Mexican migrants stayed in the United States less than 7 days, of which 4.1% reported being robbed or assaulted, while 5.0% of those who stayed more than 7 days—therefore, whose crosses are most likely completed—experienced that crime. Regarding sociodemographic characteristics, we expected men to have a higher prevalence than women, as women tend to use safer routes than their male counterparts (París Pombo, 2012; Torre Cantalapiedra, 2021), however, we found no statistical significance difference in prevalence between men and women at the 95% confidence level. Likewise, age and education do not influence prevalence levels of robbery and assaults of migrants.…”
