Multi-Criteria Efficiency Analysis of Using Waste-Based Fuel Mixtures in the Power Industries of China, Japan, and Russia

Abstract: This paper presents the results of analyzing the efficiency of the following five fuel types: dry coal, wet coal processing waste, coal–water slurry, and two waste-derived slurries. In the calculations, we employed 16 criteria related to the energy industry, economy, social aspects, safety at plants, and environmental protection. We used the experimental data, obtained from the combustion of the fuels under study at three heating temperatures (700 °C, 800 °C, and 900 °C). Three countries were analyzed, where a… Show more

“…For example, Schlifter and Madlener (2016) [48] used AHP in analyzing the risks associated with energy performance contracting projects in Russia. Another study conducted by Geller (2018) [49] assessed the energy security in Russia using the AHP approach, while Zaychenko et al ( 2018) [50] used AHP to adjust the energy strategy of Russia to suit the Far North part of the country. Vershinina et al (2020) used AHP among other multicriteria methods in efficiency analysis of using waste-based fuel mixtures in the power industries of China, Japan, and Russia [51].…”

“…The calculations took into account 16 criteria encompassing the energy industry, the economy, social issues, plant safety, and environmental protection. It has been claimed that producing renewable energy is both practical and effective under certain conditions; nevertheless, there are some regions where a lack of investment, topography, and climate make development problematic Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Weighted Sum Model (WSM), Weighted Product Model (WPM) 2020 Ahmad et al In the framework of 1990–2018 data, the expansion of the service sector and the effects of renewable energy on environmental quality in ASEAN 5 countries were studied. It is said that non-renewable energy, population growth, and economic development all increase CO 2 emissions and have a negative impact on the environment, but renewable energy can have a positive impact.…”

“…Each of these additives makes it possible to vary the technological, economic, environmental, and energy performance indicators of power plants fired by composite fuels [5,6]. In particular, a multicriteria analysis has shown [7,8] that water-based slurry fuels exceed natural solid fuels in the relative performance parameters. As a result, the so-called composite liquid fuels became widely known [9,10].…”
