Multi-period design and planning of closed-loop supply chains with uncertain supply and demand

Abstract: a b s t r a c tA design and planning approach is proposed for addressing general multi-period, multi-product closedloop supply chains (CLSCs), structured as a 10-layer network (5 forward plus 5 reverse flows), with uncertain levels in the amount of raw material supplies and customer demands. The consideration of a multi-period setting leads to a multi-stage stochastic programming problem, which is handled by a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) formulation. The effects of uncertain demand and supply on th… Show more

“…Activities as production, assembling, or disassembling are characterized in detail while accounting for the SC dynamics under an uncertain market environment. Finally, Zeballos et al (2014) developed a multi-period, multi-product closed-loop SC design and planning problem where uncertain levels in the amount of raw materials and customer demands were studied. Several aspects of practical significance were considered, such as operational and environmental costs of different transportation modes, as well as capacity limits on production, distribution, and storage.…”

“…Sun et al [21] present a price-sensitive stochastic demand model based on the loss-averse retailer. With uncertain levels in the amount of raw material supplies and consumer market demands, Zeballons et al [22] propose a multiperiod, multiproduct, and 10-layer network model. The effects of uncertain demand and supply on the network are analyzed.…”

“…Altmann and Bogaschewsky [1], developed a multi-objective robust CLSC network design model under customer demands and return product ratio uncertainty. Zeballos, et al [2], developed a multi-stage stochastic mixed integer linear programming model to design a multi-product, multi period CLSC network by considering uncertainty in customer demands and amount of raw material. Ma, et al [3], addressed a robust multi-objective CLSC mathematical model under uncertain market demand and cost parameters by economical cost and environmental impact considering.…”
