Multi-Timescale Active and Reactive Power-Coordinated Control of Large-Scale Wind Integrated Power System for Severe Wind Speed Fluctuation

Abstract: Wind speed fluctuations are extremely easy to cause the voltage change frequently. The existing voltage control methods are lacking in adjustment range and response speed. When wind speed fluctuates substantially or rapidly, voltage exceeding limit and the resulting grid safety problems cannot be avoided. Therefore, reasonably distributing and utilizing the reactive power of variable speed wind turbines in the whole network are an inevitable choice. However, the controllable reactive capacity of wind turbines … Show more

“…If the grid voltage is stable, in the 0 dq coordinate system, the calculated reference current is compared with the actual current output by the grid to obtain the current deviation value [31]. After the PI regulator, the command voltage is obtained, and then the rotating coordinate system is transformed to the static coordinate system.…”

“…However, owing to the volatility and intermittency natures of wind power generation, the problems in wind energy industry in terms of increasing peak shaving complexity, reducing output power quality as well as depraving system operation stability exist. As a result, friendly grid-connected wind power consumption is hindered and severe wind electrical energy abandonment happens in many countries [3]- [4]. In renewable energy market, most WTs work with the mode of variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) to shrink the impacts on power system and to improve the capacity factor of wind farms.…”
