Multichannel Detection in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: A linear photodiode array has been used as the photodetector element in a new ultraviolet-visible detection system for high-performance liquid chromatography. This array allows simultaneous acquisition of light intensity data at all wavelengths between 190 and 600 nanometers. By use of a computer network concept in the electronics, this detection system can process eight different chromatographic signals simultaneously in real time and acquire spectra manually or automatically. Detector response times are vari… Show more

“…No início da década de 80, quando já existiam espectrofotômetros PDA disponíveis comercialmente, os sistemas HPLC-PDA eram discutidos e suas potencialidades evidenciadas 29,30 . Estes sistemas têm experimentado, desde então, uma evolução significativa, que pode ser verificada pela fabricação de espectrofotôme-tros comerciais com "softwares" dedicados à HPLC.…”

“…At present, the HPLC technique seems to be the method of choice when analysing body fluids because of its resolving power, thus avoiding cross-reactions with related peptides or fragments. During the past decade, diode-array detection was introduced for liquid chromatography (Miller et al, 1982) with high potential for the identification of molecular components. The technique allows collection of spectral information at sequential time intervals under computer control during elution.…”

“…was prepacked with rigid polystyrene-divinylbenzene resin (Showa Denko, K.K., Tokyo, Japan) and coupled with a 40 x 3.4 mm RP-18 guard column (Brownlee Labs., Santa Clara, CA). A Hewlett Packard (Palo Alto, CA) photodiode array detection system (Model 1040 A) was used for peak purity determination as described by Miller et al (1982).…”
