The increment of the number of activities related to recycling and recovery of products are determined mostly, by the legal regulations, but also, by the needs of users. As a result, there is a large quantites of materials and products that have been returned from the market for a specific reason. This requiers brand new decision-making with which the managers had not met before. This paper presents new integrated forward and reverse logistics model (IFRL). It is supposed that capacities of locations are limited. Mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem with the aim to minimize total cost is presented. Total costs include opening, shipping, operation and penalty costs. The results are obtained with CPLEX solver. We present test problems and case study based on the real instances gathered in one Serbian company which produces electrical household devices. Finally, we present sensitivity analyses.

In this study, the feasibility of using fly ash to manufacture high‐temperature mortars was investigated. The investigation was set to define preliminary characteristics of new types of mortars based on ordinary and/or refractory cement with fly ash addition, and to establish mutual correlation between thermally induced changes of mineral phases, microstructure, and final performances of the mortars. New mortars, made up of 21% cement (PC‐CEM I 42.5R/HAC‐Secar 70/71), 70% river sand, and 9% fly ash, were chemically, physically, and mechanically characterized to determine possibilities of fly ash re‐utilization for high‐temperature purposes. The fly ash samples, which originated from four different power plants, were mechanically activated. Mortars were heat‐treated up to 1300°C in a laboratory tunnel furnace with retention time 2 h. Thermal stability of crystalline phases were studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA); thermally induced changes in mineral phase composition were analyzed by XRD; and microstructure were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Correlated results of DTA, XRD, and SEM analyses indicated initiation of sintering processes at approximately 1300°C and formation of thermally stable minerals (rankinite, gehlenite, anorthite, cristobalite). The investigation highlights a sustainable approach of using fly ash in developing ecofriendly mortars for high‐temperature application.

Construction and demolition waste (C&DW) constitutes a priority waste stream in the European waste strategy due to its large volume and its high recycling and reuse potential. Directive 2008/98/EC on waste, stresses the need of quantify the waste stream and to improve the material recovery efficiency of C&DW in the European Union. Designing a suitable network of facilities involves an adequate knowledge of the inputs to material recovery facilities. In this work, a two-step methodology for the quantification and waste management analysis of C&DW has been developed and applied to the case study in Cantabria, a northern Spanish region. In the first step, the quantification of C&DW was calculated by means of an equation which combines municipal licenses and ratios of waste per unit area of construction, demolition and renovation. The selected ratios for the study case in Cantabria belong to four northern Spanish regions, and they were developed by two associations of architects, one technological institute and by the regional legislation recently developed in the region. In the second step, the waste management assessment for C&DW was carry out throw the development of a multicriteria-based methodology for decision-making in order to select the most suitable management alternative. The application of the methodology to the case study in Cantabria has been performed using four multicriteria analysis methods: Evamix (EV), Weighted Summation (WS), Electre II (E2) and Regime (REG). Analyses of the sensitivity of the results have been also carried out in order to investigate the robustness of the solutions obtained in the decision making process.
