Multifunctional Finishing of Cotton with Compounds Derived from MCT-β-CD and Quantification of Effects Using MLR Statistical Analysis

Abstract: Multifunctionalization of cotton using a single product has not been made until now. Such a product was synthesized using compounds with multiple functions (glyoxal, ethylenediamine (ED) and monochlorotriazinyl-β–cyclodextrin (MCT-β-CD)), under different mass ratios. Obtaining this multifunctional derivative has been confirmed by spectroscopic analyses (1H-NMR and FTIR) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Treatment of cotton with the MCT-β-CD derivative (D-CD) has been realized with the pad dry-cure tech… Show more

“…CDs play an important role in the textile industry, as they can be used as leveling agents in dyeing [223][224][225], in wastewater treatment [226][227][228], and in textile finishing [229][230][231][232][233]. In the dyeing process, CDs can be used as a dyeing aid, forming a complex with the dye [234], or as a chemical modification of the surface [235,236].…”

“…Unfortunately, most new crosslinking agents are not as effective as DMDHEU. Among them, research on dialdehydes mainly focuses on glyoxal and glutaraldehyde [ 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ]. Although the crease resistance of cotton fabrics finished with glyoxal and glutaraldehyde is satisfactory, dialdehydes with low boiling points are strongly irritative during finishing.…”
