Multiobjective optimization design of the solar field and reverse osmosis system with preheating feed water using Genetic algorithm

Abstract: In this article the solar energy is utilized to generate needed steam for a power generation cycle which in turn provides the required power of a RO system. Optimization was carried out on two levels. First, Economizer, Evaporator, Super heater in power generation cycle as well as the type of membrane, PV numbers and series were optimized. In addition, the optimum design of a solar field for the system was carried out and the collector specifications, number of branches, and flow rate were designed. Based on t… Show more

“…Relative cost difference refers to the proportional relationship between the unit exergy economic cost of fuel exergy and the increase of the cost caused by irreversible process, emissions, wearing, and nonenergy costs of system components 35,36 . However, when relative cost difference is calculated in traditional methods, only component improvement potential is judged.…”

“…The trend of carbon dioxide emission during the mentioned years is represented in Figure 3. (Bp, 2018) Solving the CO2 emission problem of fossil fuels requires either an improvement in their efficiencies (Ahmadi et al 2018a; Ramezanizadeh et al 2018a) or replacing them with other energy resources (Ghoujdi, 2018Ahmadi et al 2018c;Ahmadi et al 2018d). One of the fossil fuel applications which can be replaced by renewable energies is hydrogen production (Ahmadi et al 2018d;Amekan et al 2018;Handayani & Ariyanti, 2012;Madvar et al, 2018;Menges & Pfaffenberger, 2015;Kaloi 2017).…”

“…Moreover, the HOMER software was selected for techno‐economic analysis. Ghoujdi et al, 16 using GA, optimized a power generation unit integrated with a reverse osmosis plant. This algorithm optimized the solar field based on minimum production cost and maximum permeate flow rate.…”
